New Chitra Driving Training Institute was established in 1976 and was registered under the Department of Motor Vehicles in 1988.

To produce quality drivers by adhering to government rules and regulations.
Qualifications of the Principal
- Having received training from the BSM Driving Training Institute in England.
- Having received specialized training on slippages that occur while driving.
- Having participated in numerous lectures in Sri Lanka.
- Having received a certificate from the Auto Mobile Institute.
- Having participated in delivering lectures to driving instructors.

Learning process
- To introduce the novice driver to the road and eliminate the fear of driving.
- To explain the basic points of driving training.
- To provide necessary instructions and training to make correct decisions in accordance with various situations.
- To be able to practice online for the written test.
